Paranormal 2 Teaser Blooper? Reflection of Baby Disappears

Paranormal 2 is about strange things that go on in a house. So, it's not surprising to see a few ghostly things appear and disappear. But there's one thing in the teaser trailer that should not disappear, and that's the reflection of a baby in the mirror. Then again, maybe it's supposed to happen?

In one room where there's supposedly a camera to document paranormal and supernatural phenomena, there's a baby in a crib. There's a German Shepherd dog on the floor. The wall on the upper left hand corner of the room is mirrored and you can see the baby and the dog reflected on it (top). But in two instances, the reflection doesn't match what's in the room. The baby and the dog (above, left) appear to have disappeared from the mirror. In the scene where the female ghost appears by the door, the baby is lying down but appears in the mirror standing up. Drag Me to Hell Stunt Switch

Alison Lohman is a good actress, but like all good actresses, she also has a double for scenes that are too physical or demanding in terms of action and body punishment. In her movie Drag Me to Hell, she has a scene (movie still at the bottom) where a witch pulls her out of her car by the legs through the door.

The scene is a quick one, and viewers aren't able to tell if it is indeed Lohman or a stunt woman who got dragged. But if you slow down the scene and freeze one frame, you'd see that it's not Lohman doing the stunt but some other girl. It's obvious even with the face contorted on purpose (still warranted in the scene, of course) to avoid recognition. It's definitely a stunt woman who has a much longer face than Alison's.

My Bloody Valentine 3D Pickaxe over Arm Sequence

The new 3D horror film My Bloody Valentine 3D is intended more to thrill and amuse than to horrify viewers. It even has a movie within a movie sequence where Movie-goers get to experience deadly 3D effects coming from the screen itself.

This kind of virtual audience engagement in the movie-watching experience has been done before like in one of the Gremlins movies and Arnold Schwarzenneger's Last Action Hero. But with new 3D technology, this promises more realism. But, like old-fashioned B movies, some effects still use tried and tested methods, like the pickaxe-over-arm technique.

In the sequence shown, masked pickaxe murderer strikes a victim, but the attackee actually brings his arm up against the pickaxe (rather than the weapon driving into it), which is really stationary, and thus hides it behind his upper arm - making it appear as if it's pierced right through.

This movie stars Supernatural's Jensen Ackles and Bulletproof Monk's Jamie King.

Delayed Reflection in Twilight Flight Sequence and Crumpling Car Door Effect

Twilight is a "horror" romance, thriller about a teenage girl who falls for a teenage boy who apparently lives forever, eats fresh deer for lunch, and has powers like flight. The teaser doesn't really tell us much about the story, except that maybe the boy is a vampire, or something similar (because he can go without harm under daylight). But, of course fans of the book series already know about the characters and the situation they are in.

In one sequence, where the girl, Bella Swan (played by Kristen Stewart) already knows that the boy Edward Cullen (played by Robert Pattinson) is different, they go on a flight. But notice how their reflection on the glass of the door in the third still (bottom) comes in only after they are already way out the doorway? That shouldn't have been the case. But, then again, if you check how reflections are seen in a mirror, it just might be correct and this isn't a special effects mistake.


But here's another scene where our vampire boy stops a vehicle from slamming into his girlfriend. Notice how the surface of the door of the car isn't smooth - suggesting that it's made of some easy-to-crumple material instead of the usual metal. Just a little push on it and it would give like a beer can. It's a "mechanical" sfx.

Twilight is based on the novel saga by Stephanie Meyer.
